About JLEAHistory

Japanese Language Education Association (JLEA) is a part of Japan Sri Lanka Technical & Cultural Association Trust (JASTECA), which serves as the pioneer organization in Sri Lanka disseminating the Japanese Language in Sri Lanka. JLEA has been carrying out this service for over 30 years.

Japanese and Sri Lankan teachers, with very high level of proficiency in teaching the Japanese Language are engaged by JLEA in conducting weekday and weekend classes. Classes are conducted in 2 semesters per year (six months/semester) containing 80 hours per semester.

JLEA conducts Japanese Language classes are conducted on 8 categories from basic to advanced levels, to approximately 800 students/year. The close association JASTECA maintains with the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation has given high credence to the Japanese Language classes conducted by the JLEA.

The Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka had been conducting Japanese Language Classes prior to 2001. In the year 2002, the Japanese Language Education Association (JLEA) was established as a Trust with the help of JASTECA. This institution has now become the most professional Japanese Language teaching institute in the country.
